Normal people, living normal lives, with gospel intentionality.

Missional Community

Here is a video Soma Communities did with the verge network on how their missional communities function. The core of Redemption Hill will be made up of such missional communities. Although they will never be the same as Soma, they will tend to function much like their missional communities.

Prayer Update

Although God has been calling together a great team of people to start Redemption Hill, we are still in need of much support. At of the time of this post we have 18 adults who have committed to be part of Redemption Hill. They consist of 4 single guys (so single ladies, we have some great guys who love Jesus ;-) ), 6 married couples and 1 engaged couple, with a total of 15 kidos between the ages of 6 months and 14 yrs old. As you can imagine, we are excited about the church that God is calling unto Himself in Auburn to live on mission for His glory.

Right now we are interacting through cookouts, soccer games, coffee, and meals to clarify the mission and vision of Redemption Hill. With all of that said, we are now propelling into our support raising phase (which I am dreading) so if anyone has $87,300 and would like to write a check that would be sweet. Although I totally trust God, I doubt that it will be one person to fund the whole endeavor and I don’t think it would be the best method of planting. So we are trusting God to bring people from all over Maine, New England, America and the World to help us share Jesus with the greater Auburn area. Our needs are for prayer and finances. This is where you can help. Below is a short form [click on "Support Redemption Hill" link] that you can fill out to help us with the launch of RH. We will not spam you, I promise. You can choose what type of support you will be a part of so if God is not calling you to give financially, we ask you to join the prayer part. Whatever you are called to do, let us know. We will follow up in the next couple weeks with emails as to the next step.

About Redemption Hill

Vision—

Jesus came to live among the world to redeem the world. Redemption Hill seeks to live in the world to help redeem the world for His glory. Jesus gave of Himself so we could have right relationship with God the Father. Redemption Hill will thrive as missionaries in the greater Auburn area so that the 100,000 people who live there can know the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Mission—

Redemption Hill is a gospel-centered, missional, church-plant that will be launching in Auburn, Maine in January 2012.  At the core of Redemption Hill, we will seek to be a community that reaches the 95% of Maine that does not have a relationship with Jesus. Our hope is that we will not only reach those in the greater Auburn area, but throughout New England by using the efforts and ministries of Redemption Hill.

Goals—

In January 2012, Redemption Hill, led by Josh Cousineau who is the current youth pastor of EABC and an Auburn native, will launch a Sunday Gathering along with missional communities throughout the greater Auburn area. Redemption Hill seeks to be a church-planting church with a vision to plant not only missional communities throughout the greater Auburn area, but also church gatherings and church plants throughout Maine and New England.

Prayer Update 1

Dear Partners for the Gospel,

It seems the only thing that has been steady in the process of planting Redemption Hill has been, change and spiritual warfare. Both of these have been in high supply, and we are grateful for that. Although the spiritual warfare is grueling, it shows us we must be heading in the right direction. Much like the ever present spiritual warfare, the changes that we are processing through, are keeping us on our knees- seeking Jesus and His will for Redemption Hill, not ours.

Below you will find some prayer points, and then a couple action steps! Know that me, my family and all of those who are part of Redemption Hill, and even those who don't know Jesus yet but will, are grateful for your prayers, encouragement and support in this mission to proclaim Jesus in Maine and beyond.

Prayer -
  • Launch Team - 20 adults and 16 children and growing.
  • Greater Auburn Area - There are thousands of people; we are praying we would lead many to know Jesus as their savior.
  • Me and my Family - Although being in God's perfect will is the best place to be, it is also a tough place; We are feeling it as a family.
  • Support - We are in the process of launching into our support raising, and I am not going to lie, I am not enjoying this. Pray that God would lead.
  • Guidance - There are some doors God may be opening that we did not see happening until 3 years in, we need great wisdom and guidance to know if, or when to step through these doors.
  • Support Team - Pray as we build our support team, prayer team and those who will be walking through this plant in advisory roles. Pray for wisdom, encouragement and a deep sense of calling to partner with me and RH as we follow God's leading.

Action -

  • Pray Please pray for the above list now, and if you could a couple times a week, or whenever God brings these things to your mind.
  • Give Although our full promotional video, and site are not finished yet, we are looking for an advance team of givers to get us rolling. Our plan is to pray a lot, and share the need. From there we will allow our Lord and Savior to lead people to give. If you are one of those people, would you simply reply to this email, with what God has laid on your heart. We are looking for people to commit either monthly or a one time gift.
  • Share We are always trying to build our support team, if you know pastors, churches or people who love Jesus and would love to pray for the mission here in Maine, let us know. We would love to have them join the team and be part of what Jesus is doing with Redemption Hill. Maybe you could just forward them this email, or email us their address.
  • Connect | Connect with RH by following us on twitter or liking us on Facebook. Also check out our web-site, which will be growing over the next couple weeks, at RHCOMMUNITY.ORG.
We are grateful for what God is doing, and we look forward to the next update that will feature our vision video. It will also include links to how you can support us and read more about the vision and mission God has called us to fulfill in Maine.
