Persistence Through Opposition

Three Hurdles Nehemiah had to Overcome

Nehemiah 2:9 - 3:32 - In the midst of rebuilding, Nehemiah is faced with three major hurdles that he, and the people of God, had to overcome to walk in obedience. Today, we often face these same three things.

Nehemiah: A Man of Prayer

Nehemiah 1:4 - 2:8 - Throughout the book of Nehemiah, we see that he is a man of prayer. If we are to do what God has called us to, we also have to be men and women of prayer. This message looks at Nehemiah's prayer life and how we can also cultivate a life of prayer.

The Man and The Mission

Nehemiah 1:1-3 - As we get into the book of Nehemiah, we look at who Nehemiah was and an overview of the book of Nehemiah.

Reformation Through Repentance

Ezra 10 - Many of us have become numb to sin in our own lives and the lives of those around us. We need to walk in repentance if we ever hope to have real lasting change come into our lives.

The Splash of Sin

Ezra 9 - As we live in community with one another, the sins of those we live life with will undoubtedly splash up on us or they will impact our lives. We need to be intentional with how we will interact with one another when this happens in our lives.

The Hand of God

Ezra 8 - Explores what it means to have the Hand of God with or against you. What is the Hand of God? What does it do? How can we be sure the Hand of God is with us?

Ezra: God's Instrument of Reformation

Ezra 7 - There is much we can learn from Ezra's character as a man of God and his courage to fulfill the mission God had for him. But the primary lesson we learn from his life is that God is faithful to His people, and raises up leaders to call His people to be faithful to Him.

Consider Your Ways Pt. 2

Ezra 5-6 - The outcome of faith and obedience to God's plan is threefold: God's purposes are fulfilled, God's people are filled with joy, and more people are added to God's family.

Consider Your Ways

Ezra 4:1-5:2 - We see for the first time since the exile, opposition and challenge come against the people of God. Because of their fear of man, they walk in sin which leads to 15 years of God's blessing being withheld.

The Temple of God

Ezra 3:8-13 - By the decree of God the people of God were to rebuild the temple of God. We take some time to look at the biblical image of the temple and trace it through the whole of the Bible and see how Jesus is the greater temple.

Of First Importance

Ezra 3:1-7 - The returned exiles start the rebuilding of the altar, so they can reinstitute the sacrifices and again put God at the center of their community life.

The Exiles Return

Ezra 2 - Why is a list of numbers and names good for our instruction? We will see how this list shows God's faithfulness and shows us the discipline He gives to His people.

A Promise Fulfilled

Ezra 1:1-11- Ezra 1 reminds us that God is faithful to His people which gives us encouragement for today.
